Job Summary:

The job responsibility of this position is to act as a reliable technical resource and influencer to the Consulting Engineering community, EP Sales Team and EP Project Management by providing timely technical information and presentations to achieve Fabick Power Systems electric power sales goals. This position will also provide project management assistance to the Project Management team. As a sales team member, this position shares the responsibility with others members to act in a manner that ensures the continued growth of Power Systems commercial sales in accordance with both departmental and Fabick corporate strategies.


* Influence Consulting Engineers and Key Influencers on all products and services provided by Fabick Power Systems through building trusted relationships, specification guidance, product sizing, product & industry technology advances, application and installation expertise, and competitive awareness. Maintain regular call activity for new and existing consulting engineers, end users, contractors, utilities and developers to evaluate their electric power needs and how Fabick Cat/Caterpillar can support in the application design of products and services to deliver the customer valued electric power solutions which position Fabick Cat/Caterpillar as the preferred partner for all projects.

* Ability to project manage generator projects of all sizes and work closely with the sales and project management team to support and manage projects from start to finish.
* Review, evaluate and determine customer defined technical requirements in order to offer solutions in the form of equipment and services - including budgetary pricing, product information, drawings, performance data and specifications, product availability and application features and benefits.
* Act as a "One Safe Source" for the Power Systems Sales team for technical information and application and installation guidance on all Power Systems products. Recognizes potential sales opportunities and passes leads onto sales representatives, inside sales representatives, or sales management as appropriate. Assist external and internal customers with the sizing and specifying of Generator Sets, ATS's, Paralleling Switchgear, and other ancillary supporting equipment.
* Determine appropriate product selections in order to assist customers based upon a customer's needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
* Keep consultants updated with respect to the latest power systems products through regular Lunch & Learn programs. Seek to continually expand Fabick Power customer base by seeking out new customers. Be involved and take leadership positions in all local engineering organizations and industry events. Maintain a high degree of product and industry knowledge through factory programs, product updates, technical information, Industry Associations/Agencies, codes, applicable Federal, State and Local laws/codes, etc.
* Maintain comprehensive electronic data base including paper files for all current and future projects and project historicals utilizing Fabick's Coporate data base. Maintain customer call reports and contact lists utilizing SalesLink or other management approved tool. Responsible for assisting in the reporting and compliance to applicable engineering coverage marketing programs offered by Caterpillar. Generate other associated reports / documentation as required. Report on such activities as required by management.
* Communicate and coordinate all project related activities and opportunities with Fabick Management, Fabick Commercial Sales Personnel, Fabick Project Mgrs. and Caterpillar as required to ensure continuity in support of every potential project through to its successful sale and completion.

* 60% Indoor, office and shop environment and 40% outdoor duties in all types of weather.

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
* 10+ years of experience in the power generation market
* 10+ years of experience in the various phases of diesel & gaseous engines, generator set, or related systems with Engineering experience
* 3+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering
* 3+ years of experience in sales, preferably in similar industry
* 5 to 10 years of direct customer contact experience.
* Knowledge, skills and abilities acquired through receiving a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
* Broad mechanical and/or electrical background with an extensive knowledge in the application and installation of diesel & gaseous engines, transfer switches, paralleling switchgear, and supporting equipment
* A team player, cooperative, collaborative, willing and able to work easily and synergistically with others
* Must have strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with appropriate influence and ability to resolve business issues.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with working knowledge of PC based computer software programs.
* High energy level, excellent organizational, time management and negotiating skills.
* Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Proficiency in MS Office products and other business software applications
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Strong negotiation skills
* Extensive working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and power generation systems ideally along with in-depth knowledge of the Caterpillar product line and competitive awareness.
* Comfortable speaking to and developing presentations for large groups of people
* Up to 25% travel depending on territory assignment
